Professor Marijoan Bull's Housing in America class spent 13 October 2012 working on a Habitat for Humanity house being built in Springfield (MA) for a victim of the tornado. Students spent a long day framing openings, hanging doors, and installing baseboard.

Walkability Audit for Holyoke Neighborhood (Spring 2011)
In collaboration with the Holyoke Department of Planning and Development, GARP 219 Land Use Planning (taught by Dr. Marijoan Bull) completed a Walkability Audit this spring for the Churchill Neighborhood in the city. Using a form they designed, students spent 6 weeks assessing physical conditions. This information was combined with GIS based data on the ability to meet basic needs within a 1/2mile radius and other urban design standards for walkability. (more photographs)

Habitat For Humanity Collegiate Challenge (Spring Break 2010)
Dr. Marijoan Bull and Dr. Carsten Braun joined a group of 22 students over Spring Break to work on three Habitat for Humanity houses in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Over 60 Regional Planning and Environmental Science students attended our First Annual Career Networking Night (03/02/2010). This event was facilitated by Career Services and brought 12 successful alumni back to campus to talk to our students about future career opportunities. Thanks to everyone who participated!

Outreach to local High School (October 2009)
Dr. Carsten Braun worked with students from Easthampton High Schools on GPS-mapping of a local hiking trail and showed them to create beautiful Google Earth animations with imbedded photographs and videos.

Earth Day Sustainability Fair (04/22/2009)
Dr. Marijoan Bull and Dr. Carsten Braun organized an Interactive Ecological Footprint Exhibit for the Sustainability Earth Day Fair (Wednesday, 04/22/2009). More than 50 students and guests calculated their Ecological Footprint and explored options to become more sustainable.

Professor Marijoan Bull's Land Use and Natural Resource Planning class did field work along the proposed Colombia Greenway in downtown Westfield during April 2009 and completed a Bicycle Plan for Westfield State University.
