Patricia Wright is the Costume Shop Manager: creating the patterns and overseeing the work that turns our Costume Designer’s ideas into reality. She has been designing and sewing costumes for over 40 years and has won numerous convention Hall Awards and awards from local costume contests throughout the years. She specializes in period accurate clothing and accurate reproductions of popular media clothing. Wright has many years as a costume shop manager, ranging from guerilla film companies and their rigorous film shoots, to local museums, to the shows and entertainment department at an amusement park.
She earned a BSW from Elms College and served as Q.M.R.P., Habilitation Director, Staff Curriculum Developer and Trainer, and other positions working with adults with developmental disabilities. After retiring from her social work career, Wright created costumes for Storrowtown Village, Westfield on Weekends “Dickens Days”, and was the Costume Shop Manager for Mystic Seaport, The Haunted Fort at Fort Ticonderoga, Six Flags New England and Retro Film Studios. In addition to creating period accurate and WB accurate clothing, she was the Costume Designer/costumer for Nautical Nightmares; Lantern Light Tours; Fright Fest New England; the internet productions “Buck Rogers Begins”, “Back to the Wild Wild West”, Star Trek: New Voyages/Phase II episodes “Enemy: Starfleet”, “The Child”, “Kitumba”, “Mind Sifter I”, “Origins: The Protracted Man”, “Going Boldly”, “Bread and Savagery”, “The Holiest Thing”; “Star Trek: Secret Voyage”; “Star Trek: Axanar”; “Project Potempkin”; and the “American Experience: television episode “Into the Deep”.
In addition to her costuming work, Wright was a producer, 1st AD, and writer for internet film series “Buck Rogers Begins”, “Back to the Wild Wild West”, “Star Trek: New Voyages”, and “Star Trek: Phase II”; has been a reporter and columnist for newspapers, edited and wrote for the fanzine “Star Traveler”, and has been published in many others. Wright also owns Tradewinds Costumes.
