New Diversity Officer hired to enhance inclusion, diversity and equity efforts

Juan Nunez joined the University as diversity officer in the Office of Human Resources, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity on November 4.

Juan has more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sector as a diversity practitioner, holding leadership roles at KPMG, The Fashion Institute of Technology and The University of Massachusetts-Boston.

Appointed as the UMass Boston chief diversity officer in 2010, Juan collaborated with the university’s Diversity Committee to develop a strategic and integrated approach to promoting campus diversity. In the fall of 2012, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the University’s Diversity Committee launched a campus-wide climate assessment survey, which provided valuable data for developing initiatives that infused diversity into the university’s fabric and consciousness.

Juan earned a bachelor’s degree in legal studies from Mercy College and received a master’s degree in public administration from City University, John Jay College.
