PARTNERSHIPS & STEERING COMMITTEE

Center for Ecological Technology (CET) - CET's mission is "to research, develop, demonstrate and promote those technologies which have the least disruptive impact on the natural ecology of the Earth." From offices in Pittsfield, Northampton and Springfield, this non-profit orgranization finds sustainable solutions to complex issues in order to benefit our environment, health, economy, and community.

Curriculum Research and Evaluation (CRE) - CRE is an independent evaluator that designs and implements evaluation studies for projects that are dedicated to the professional development of school teachers and other professional educators. They use field-based data collection strategies to ensure that project officials and funding agencies receive timely feedback and analysis to support decision making and process improvement.

Enchanted Circle Theater - Founded in 1976, this non-profit, professional educational theater company is dedicated to engaging, enhancing and inspiring learning through the arts.  Their programs, which are known to expand the boundaries of what is generally presented in schools, integrate theater arts - theater, dance, music, visual and literary arts - with academic and social curricula.

Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center (MARC) - The mission of MARC at Bridgewater State University is to bring affordable violence prevention services to K-12 education, law enforcement, and other professional caregivers in Massachusetts. Their services include school programs, conferences, workshops, consultation, and research, in the areas of bullying prevention, cyberbullying education and prevention, and violence prevention.

Measured Progress - Measured Progress is an industry leader in the development of customized, K–12 student assessments for schools, districts, and states. Their mission is to improve teaching and learning by providing customized assessment products and educational services.

Olweus Bully Prevention Program - This is a whole-school program aimed at preventing or reducing bullying throughout a school setting. It is designed to improve peer relations and make schools safer, more positive places for students to learn and develop. Goals of the program include: (1) reducing existing bullying problems among students, (2) preventing new bullying problems, and (3) achieving better peer relations at school. This evidence-based model has received recognition from the US Department of Health & Human Services, the US Department of Justice, the US Department of Education, and many other organizations.

Pioneer Valley STEMNET - This is a "network of networks" that is working throughout the Valley, joining postsecondary institutions, K-12 school districts, business and industry, and nonprofit collaboratives and agencies in the pursuit of shared education and workforce development goals in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association (PVMA) - Founded in Deerfield, Massachusetts in 1870 as the first historical society in western Massachusetts, the PVMA is currently a regional organization, supporting the Memorial Hall Museum and Library, Deerfield Teachers’ Center, Indian House Children’s Museum, and many community outreach projects.

Western Mass Writing Project (WMWP) - The WMWP is an established, licensed K-13 professional development provider that offers a number of programs that focus on writing and the teaching of writing. It is a local site of the federally funded National Writing Project and an aspect of the English Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

WGBY - This is a community-supported public broadcasting organization. They connect the people of Western Massachusetts with ideas, events, and each other for the purpose of fulfilling their aspirations, enriching their lives, and improving their communities. WGBY combines the power of ideas communicated through images, sound, and words with the ability to reach out to people across the region.

Wistariahurst Museum - Through its collections, research, exhibits and programs, Wistariahurst is dedicated to promoting an understanding and appreciation of the history and material culture of the William Skinner Family, members of the manufacturing elite, the working class who made that lifestyle possible, and the Holyoke region where those people lived. Their vision is to collect the stories that weave together a community history.

Veteran's Education Project - Founded by Vietnam veterans in 1982, this organization trains and supports veterans and military family members who want to share their personal stories of wartime experiences. Their speakers de-glorify the popular movie and video game images of war and help young people think critically about the experiences and effects of war. VEP works with veterans, from WWII to Iraq and Afghanistan, training them to speak to middle and high school students, as well as to college students and members of the public.
