Checklist for Graduating Students

√  Complete the Diploma Order Form with the Registrar's Office. If you have filled out a form for a previous semester, please submit an updated form. The Registrar's Office needs to verify that you completed all University requirements (general and major/minor).

√  Check your Degree Works account to see if you are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony. The Registrar will notify students soon if they are cleared for graduation. Resolve any issues as soon as possible with the Office of the Registrar.

√  Petition to Walk – Students may be eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremony under the following conditions:  completing 114 credits at the end of the spring semester and be within two courses of completing all degree requirements. Additional requirements include overall grade point average and major requirements.

√  Purchase your cap and gown at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore. Commencement apparel will be available beginning mid-April. Purchase no later than Friday, May 11. The cost is approximately $65 and it is recommended that you purchase your cap and gown early because sizes may be limited.

√  Register for Commencement and request tickets for family and friends. Students may request 1-4 tickets. At this time, students will have the opportunity to enter a lottery for one or two additional tickets, should extra tickets be available after initial allocation.

Graduates do not need a ticket. Tickets will be available at the Ely Campus Center service window. A valid student ID is required. If you are traveling extensively to attend, you may request your tickets to be available at Will Call in the MassMutual Center. Tickets can be picked up beginning at 2:30 p.m. on the day of Commencement. Tickets will not be mailed.

√  Plan to attend Commencement Rehearsal on May 8 at 4 p.m. at the Woodward Center. Rehearsal will take approximately one hour.

√  Reserve guest accommodations at area hotels and make restaurant reservations as soon as possible due to high-demand that weekend.

√  Graduating students should plan to arrive at the MassMutual Center between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Commencement day. You need to check in before participating in the ceremony. If you are late, you’ll miss the opportunity to process and sit with your major section. To avoid confusion, decide on a location where you will meet your family and guests after the ceremony. Please leave any personal belongings with your family and guests during the ceremony, as there is no storage at the MassMutual Center.

Out of respect for all our graduates, please remain for the entire ceremony.
