2007-2008 Academic Year
The All-College Committee formed the Ad Hoc Committee on Sustainability on 02/20/2008. The committee was asked to consider all ways that we can reduce our energy consumption, inventory our greenhouse gas emissions, and begin the development of an institutional action plan for becoming climate neutral. Westfield State University is accountable to the directives of the Governor of the Commonwealth (Executive Order No. 484) and to the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment. In essence, Executive Order No. 484 requires us to reduce our greenhouse gas emission by 25 percent in 2012, relative to 2002. The American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment contains a series of specific deadlines and benchmarks with the ultimate goal of climate neutrality.
The committee meets regularly on Tuesdays at 08:00 in the Corner Cafe - please join us and get involved!
