MetaComet Systems is a digital publishing company that specializes in servicing "licensors of virtually any intellectual or physical property." Some of these things include mediums such as television, music, and video. MetaComet Systems is one of a small group of software houses located in the Pioneer Valley.
Spring 2015 intern Shane Pelletier had a different experience than previous interns in that he captured and edited instructional and advertisement videos for the company. 2013 and 2010 interns as Liz Rafferty and Amanda Hebson had technical writing based experiences.
Shane's unique experience served him well as he had been interested in working with the video medium. He recalled that "after being assigned a video topic, I screen capture[d] clips of whatever software [was] required and edited those clips with other audio files and voice recordings to create a complete video to be used on MetaComet's website."
Being what he called a "one-man video crew" wasn't intimidating to him as he had plenty of support from his fellow staff members: "everyone at MetaComet Systems was welcoming and more than willing to lend a hand to make sure my experience was a pleasant one."
While previous interns didn't have video production centered internships, they, like Shane, shared a similar love for their placement. Liz Rafferty shared that it was "an amazing opportunity."
MetaComet systems is interested in gaining interns in both technical writing and video production, so students will have a choice as to what they would like to focus on during their time there.
