Westfield & The Community

Westfield State is an integral and active part of a Westfield, Massachusetts.  Located in this charming New England community, the University is committed to being a good neighbor. We work with our community to build strong partnerships with the diverse community that surrounds our campus and with our local business and government colleagues. The Office Special Programs & Community Service connects the university’s resources to the community in order to create and support a variety of projects and programs. Our purpose is to collaborate with our partners and community stakeholders to enhance the quality of life in our neighborhood and our great city of Westfield.

With our new Residence Hall located in downtown Westfield, our students live and can work closely with community leaders and community-based organizations. This combination of the city and students enhances the community building important to us all. Our “OwlBucks” program, a prepaid declining balance money card, is honored by many downtown merchants and makes the connection between the campus and city economically beneficial for both. Another collaborative endeavor is The Masters Festival of the Arts that is a celebration of the creative arts. Performances, including

theater, concerts, art exhibits and movies, are held on the campus and in various downtown Westfield locations from June to August.

We are dedicated to improving the university’s visibility by developing links with the community.
