Westfield State announces appointment of Melissa Alvarado to Board of Trustees as alumni trustee

The Westfield State University Alumni Association has elected Melissa Alvarado ’99 to serve as its alumni representative to the University’s Board of Trustees.

Ms. Alvarado is an assistant vice president in enterprise risk management at MassMutual Financial Group and prior to that worked in its compliance and information technology organizations. She has served as the clerk of the Westfield State Foundation for the past two years.

“We are excited to welcome Ms. Alvarado to the Board of Trustees and look forward to the experience and expertise she brings to her new role,” said Kevin Queenin ’70, chair of the Westfield State University Board of Trustees.

In addition to the B.S. in business administration that she earned in 1999 from Westfield State, Ms. Alvarado holds an M.B.A. in finance from Western New England University and earned an executive certification in leadership and management from the University of Notre Dame.

“I am honored to serve as the alumni representative to the Board of Trustees and I look forward to working with my fellow trustees and the Executive Council of the Alumni Board to best serve Westfield State students,” said Alvarado.

Ms. Alvarado is completing the unexpired term of Terrell Hill, Ph.D. ’92. Her term will expire in March 2022.
