Westfield State to hold two golf tournament fundraisers in August

WESTFIELD—Westfield State University will hold two golf tournament fundraisers on Monday, August 7.

Foundation Golf Classic (Springfield Country Club)

The Foundation Golf Classic will be held at the Springfield Country Club in West Springfield. It will be a four-person scramble tournament. Registration and continental breakfast begin at 9 a.m., the shotgun start will be at 10 a.m., and dinner will be served at 4 p.m.

The tournament will feature hole-in-one contests, closest to the pin contests (for men and women), longest/most accurate drives contest (for men and women), and raffles and prizes. The cost to participate is $175 per player. Corporate sponsorships are still available. Visit https://www.westfieldalumni.org/events/upcoming-events/golf-tournaments/foundation-golf-classic-2017 for more information.

The Foundation Golf Classic benefits Westfield State Foundation programs including the Scholarship Fund, which honors the academic careers of well-deserving students, and the Internship Program Fund, which supports paid internships in the greater Westfield area.

Owl Club Golf Tournament (The Ranch Golf Club, Southwick)

The Owl Club Golf Tournament will be held at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and tee time is at noon. The cost to participate is $175 per player, which includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, a tee prize, and contests on the course. Lunch will be served before the round and a buffet dinner and awards ceremony will follow the tournament. Participants also have the option of registering as a foursome for $700, becoming a sponsor, or purchasing dinner only tickets for $35 per person.

The Owl Golf Tournament is one of the primary fundraisers that benefits Westfield State University’s athletic programs. Westfield State’s Owls earned the MASCAC Howard C. Smith Cup for the third year in a row this spring.

The guest of honor at the Owl Club Golf Tournament is Andrea Bertini, Westfield State’s women’s basketball coach and an alumna of the Class of 1996. Coach Bertini's team has had an unprecedented run of success over the past three seasons, winning three straight MASCAC regular season titles, two consecutive MASCAC Tournament championships, and competed in one ECAC Tournament and two straight NCAA Tournaments.
