Westfield State University appoints William Hynes as major gifts officer

Westfield State University has appointed William Hynes as a major gifts officer. Hynes reports to Dr. Erica Broman, vice president of Institutional Advancement and executive director of the Westfield State Foundation. He began at the University in June.

Hynes has held progressive positions in fundraising and development and most recently served as senior major gifts officer at Western New England University, where he engaged and solicited major donors and prospects for the University’s capital campaign. Hynes previously served as development manager and major gift officer for Baystate Health Foundation in Springfield.

“Bill brings significant fundraising and relationship building experience to the position, which will serve Westfield State and its constituents well,” said Dr. Broman. “We look forward to reaping the rewards of his knowledge and experience to connect and reconnect Westfield State’s constituents to the University.”

Hynes began his career working as a coordinator and fundraiser for several high-profile organizations, including the Greater Holyoke Youth Service Corps, the American Heart Association, and Autism Speaks.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from University of Massachusetts Amherst and earned his master’s degree in non-profit management from American International College.
