Westfield State University to offer Introduction to Brewing Class

Westfield—The College of Graduate and Continuing Education at Westfield State University, in partnership with Skyline Trading Company, will offer an Introduction to Brewing class on Sunday, October 1,5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Skyline Trading Company, 124 Elm Street, Westfield.

The class creates a unique opportunity for the beginning home brewer to learn about the brewing process and eliminate the confusion that sometimes accompanies this hobby. During the class, an expert instructor will guide participants through the steps of how to brew their own batch of home brew. Beyond the basic process, the instructor will also cover equipment and ingredients used, in-depth sanitation procedures, fermentation, beer terminology and styles, hydrometer readings (how to tell your ABV %), the bottling process, as well as tips and tricks to complete the batch hassle-free.

The cost of this class is $50, which includes food for participants and a choice of one beer. All equipment will be provided to the participants. Starter kits will be available for purchase at Skyline Trading Company, and participants will receive a 10% discount off the normal Starter Kit cost of $164.99 (plus tax) if purchased with or directly after the class. To register online, visit www.westfield.ma.edu/brewclass.
