Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there deadlines for applying each semester?
A: Most programs accept students on a rolling basis. Graduate psychology has a deadline of February 1 and enrolls only in the Fall term. Master of Social Work has a deadline of February 1 and also enrolls only in the Fall term.



Q: How many graduate credits may I take before applying to a Master's Program?
A: You may take 6 graduate credits at Westfield State University before applying to the Masters program. You may take an additional 3-credits if you have an application in process. Students must complete a Pending Application Waiver for the additional 3 credits, which is available here .



Q: How long does it take to hear about my acceptance after I apply?
A: The review process may take up to 4 to 6 weeks once a student's application is complete (after all required materials have been received).



Q: Do Post-baccalaureate Program applicants have to take the GRE or MAT test?
A: No. The MAT or GRE is required for Master's applicants only.



Q: Do I have to submit transcripts from all my previous colleges?
A: Yes, you must submit transcripts from all colleges you attended.



Q. When do I qualify for Financial Aid?
A. All students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Once a student matriculates into a program at Westfield State University, is when he/she may be eligible to receive financial aid. In order to receive financial aid, a student must enroll in at least 6-credits each semester.  For more information about financial aid, please visit their website at http://www.westfield.ma.edu/prospective-students/financial-aid/. 

Please note: Students enrolling in the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study do not qualify for financial aid/federal student loans.
