Crime Prevention

The Department of Public Safety regards the safety of the University community and the prevention of campus crime as a priority. The Department has many programs that strive to inform and educate all those who work, study and live at the College.

HELP STOP CRIME
To report a crime or any suspicious activity call the
Department of Public Safety at x5262, or access our Report a Crime web page.

THEFT
One of the major crimes on campus is theft. The Department of Public Safety is trying to prevent this crime by encouraging both students and staff to lock thier doors. If a member of the Department finds an open door he/she will leave a card which reads "If I had time to leave this note...a thief had time to steal your possessions."

OPERATION IDENTIFICATION
The Department has engravers available for public use to engrave names on valuables. If someone steals your stereo its much easier to claim it if your name is on it. Use it for stereos, cordless phones, tv's, vcr's and even your bike.

EMERGENCIES
Do you know who to call in the event of an emergency?
The Department has free 911 stickers to place on your phone.

Just call us and will send you one via the on-campus mail.

ESCORTS
The Student Security Unit offers an escort service to anyone on campus for free.
For more information see Shuttle & Escorts Services.

PROGRAMS
Public Safety Officers are also available to present programs on campus. Such programs include date rape, crime prevention, drug awarness and others. More information regarding Campus Safety Programs is available at the Department of Public Safety Office.
