August 30, 2019: Dear Campus Community:
The state's division of Capital Asset Management & Maintenance will be working throughout the academic year to make necessary upgrades to improve the efficiency and reliability of the University's sub-surface steam distribution system, which helps to provide domestic heat and hot water to nearly all campus buildings.
This subsidized construction project will begin Tuesday, September 3, 2019 and will continue through summer 2020, as weather allows. The bulk of the visible construction will be in the back of Ely Road and past Ely Campus Center, University Hall, Lammers Hall, Courtney hall and behind New Hall. This work may cause some disruption, including changing pedestrian traffic patterns and narrowing vehicular traffic lanes at the active construction site.
Throughout the fall semester, the project contractor will set up each work area with protective fencing and will excavate the area for steam pipe installation, before completing and moving onto the next area.
To insure your safety, please exercise caution around the work site and follow signs as posted, which will change frequently as the project proceeds.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation as we make these important improvements to campus.
