Safety
At Westfield State, we’re serious about safety. The prevention of campus crime is our top priority. Though often regarded as safe and sheltered communities, universities are unfortunately vulnerable to crime – just as is the rest of society.
We take pro-active measures that make our Westfield campus as safe as possible.
To ensure our campus safety we:
- Make every campus member aware of potential crime
- Emergency Notification System - In case of an emergency, Westfield State University has an Emergency Notification System to rapidly communicate with students, faculty, and staff by sending a voice message to all on-campus phones, an e-mail to all Westfield State University e-mail addresses, and a text/voice message to cell phones.
- Enhance building security with anti-crime practices and equipment
- Educate, inform and protect all the members of our community
- Oversee law enforcement, security and emergency response
All Westfield State officers are graduates of the special state police academy conducted by the Massachusetts State Police. Our officers frequently attend specialized classes and field trainings to keep them current and proficient.
Our campus community relies on and is proud of the safe environment our Public Safety office provides the campus.
