Mount Rushmore

The faces of Mount Rushmore are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
The idea was created by Doane Robinson in 1923 as a way to attrract more people to the Black Hills in South Dakota.
It was Senator Peter Norbeck and Congressman William Williamson who got legislation to pass in Congress to allow the carvings.
Robinson then went and got sculptor Gutzon Borglum to come and carve the faces.
