The Department of English is home to two B.A. programs: English and Theatre Arts. The English program prepares students to meet the challenges of an increasingly information-based, global culture, while the Theatre Arts Program incorporates creative writing, dance, music, painting, and architecture while making use of the latest technology.

What the future holds: Many English majors pursue graduate degrees (including a Masters of Arts in English at Westfield State), as well as careers with publishing firms, as writers for a variety of companies and as top-level managers requiring superior communications skills. Theatre Arts graduates pursue advance degrees from schools including Brandeis University, The Actors’ Studio at Pace University and Wayne State University, and careers in regional, national and international theatre.
