The Department of History undergraduate program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the past while teaching them important analytical skills enabling them to tackle a wide array of problems: how to ask appropriate questions and form hypotheses; how to locate and assemble the appropriate data; how to assess, weigh, and measure the evidence to arrive at rational and substantiated conclusions.

What the future holds
Many history majors enroll in Westfield’s teacher licensure program for middle and secondary education while others attend graduate school in history or law, or pursue careers as business communicators, museum curators and library science technicians.
