Undeclared
Don't rush it
There's plenty of time to decide on a major
Not every student arrives on campus with a definite idea about the major they wish to pursue. At Westfield State, choosing the Undeclared option can be an important first step toward declaring a major in a discipline that maximizes your potential for success while meeting your prerequisite career requirements.
Students of all majors – including those with Undeclared status – are required to take common core courses in subjects across the curriculum. For Undeclared students this is an opportunity to sample introductory courses in academic areas of interest to determine whether they may suit personal and career goals. Students can take up to four semesters of classes before having to declare their academic major(s). Westfield’s Department of Academic Achievement works closely with Undeclared students to help you make informed decisions and become knowledgeable about your academic options so you can declare an academic major or minor with confidence.
