Establishing a Scholarship

Establishing a scholarship at Westfield State University is an impactful way to make a difference while honoring a family member, friend, or colleague or supporting programs and causes that are meaningful to you.

Scholarships can be written to benefit students who are majoring or minoring in your field of study, who plan to enter your profession, who participate in student organizations and activities you believe in, or who have backgrounds, goals, or interests similar to your own.

Since the early 1980’s, Westfield State Foundation, Inc. has been awarding undergraduate scholarships to many of our most deserving students. The number of scholarships awarded continues to grow each year thanks to our generous donors, while at the same time, the number of student applications have increased dramatically.

The professional staff in Institutional Advancement is available to help you create a lasting legacy at Westfield State University. If you are interested in making a difference in the lives of our students, there are two ways you can establish a scholarship:

  • "Sponsor-A-Student" - Scholarships of $1,000 or more can be provided on an annual basis. These scholarships can be established with an outright gift.
  • "Endowed Scholarships" - Scholarships can be established with an outright gift or pledge of $15,000 or more.  Pledges are payable over three years.
