Shirley Lau Wong received her B.A. in English and Art History from Columbia University and her Ph.D. in English from New York University. Before coming to Westfield, she was a postdoctoral lecturer in the Morse Academic Plan and English department at NYU.

She specializes in modern and contemporary British, Irish, and Anglophone literature and teaches courses in poetry and poetics, postcolonial studies, and ecocriticism.

She is currently at work on a book project provisionally titled, Poetics of the Local: Spaces of Modern and Contemporary Irish Poetry.
