Thomas Jefferson

In 1774 Jefferson was very active in opposing British rule and was elected to the Second Continental Congress.
Before becoming the third president he advocated for religious freedom and free public education.
During the American Revolution he was the governor of Virginia and barely escaped capture by the British by fleeing Monticello, his home.
After the war he served as America's minister to France.
When the Constitution was written Jefferson insisted that there be a Bill of Rights. He wanted them to include
freedom of speech, assembly and religion which today are important to American society.

Above our forefathers are signed the Constitution. What did Thomas Jefferson want the Constitution to contain?
