Unit Theme: Sea Life

Grade: Third

Lesson Topic: Australian Ocean Life

Lesson Objectives: The student will be able to identify the types of sea creatures and the sea they are in.

Instructional Techniques: Discussion, Lecture, Watching Finding Nemo, and Website game

Instructional Materials: Finding Nemo movie, Finding Marlin Website

Theoretical Perspective: This information will help the students understand the species of life living under water.

Procedure:
            A. To introduce the topic, we will have a lecture about all of the different sea life and seas there are.
            B. Discuss among the class about what they think of the sea life
                 Watch Finding Nemo so they can see what everything looks like
                Introduce them to the Finding Marlin Website
            C. The students will answer each question on the website until they answer each question correctly leading them to the end
            D. For those having the difficulties with answering the questions, the teacher would eliminate on of the two options, depending on how many there are to help them out. Also, by talking the questions over with them to help them get a good understanding for the questions.
            E. Homework: Pick your favorite sea animal and write a paragraph about why you chose them and add some fun facts about them.

Evaluation:
            A. The student will be able to identify the types of sea creature and the area they are in. We will determine this by each student completing the website game and by the homework assignment they will complete.
            B. The concerns we have about this lesson would be that the students have a difficult time completing the website game. If this is a problem, we will have another discussion in class to help further their understanding.
