Instructional Materials:
-Website, Worksheet #1 and Worksheet #2
Theoretical Perspective
-By doing this activity about the cities and states the students will be able to be familiar with famous monuments
and
atractions across the United States. In the provided worksheets
the students have to answer specific questions related to the links in
the quiz.
Through this lesson students will develop Geography skills and History knowledge about the monuments, cities, and states.
It is also important for a student to learn a new perspective by finding information on the computer.
Procedure:
A. Introductory Activity
The class will start out by having a discussion about where in the United States the students have visited.
They will name interesting facts or attractions they saw along the way.
B. Step by Step:
1a. The teacher will show the students how to locate the website.
1b. At this point, the students will be following along to access the website.
2a. The teacher will walk around the room to answer any questions the students may have.
2b. The students will go through each question on the quiz and answer the questions to "Worksheet #1".
3a. The teacher will collect "Worksheet #1" as students finish and distribute "Worksheet #2".
3b. The students will then revisit the website and complete the quiz again along with "Worksheet #2".
C. Closure:
The teacher will collect "Worksheet #2" from the students. Afterwards there will be a closing discussion in which the students
will discuss what they learned after completing the quiz and exploring the various links.
D. Adaptations for Different Learners:
-Some students will have a reader to help them read the quiz questions and the worksheet questions.
Evaluation
A. We will determine if our objectives have been met by grading the worksheets.
1. Students will be able to identify nine famous monuments or places
that corresponds with the correct city that they are located in.
-The
teachers will be able to determine this by the results of the first
worksheet. The teacher will be able to walk around the room and observe
the students
as they complete the online website. This will be able to show if a student is simply clicking his or her way through the quiz.
2. Students will be able to identify one interesting fact about each monument named.
-The
teachers will be able to get concrete evidence by grading "Worksheet
#1" and see if they provided accurate answers found from the website.
3.
Students will be able to answer twenty questions about specific facts
for each city and state through the information provided to them in the
website.
-The
teachers will be able to determine this by grading "Worksheet #2".
Students will have to find the answers to the corresponding question by
reading the websites.
Concerns and Questions:
1. One of our concerns is that the students will randomly click different answers until they get the correct one on the website.
2. Another concern is that the students may not have enought time to complete the work adequately.
3. Will the students make this assessment a race and rush through the questions?
