Topic: Animals on the Savannah (Habitats)
Grade: 4-5
Lesson Topic or theme: Animals on the Savannah
Lesson Objectives: Students will be able to complete a
quiz based around the savannah and its animals. Prior to
the quiz, there will be a mini discussion where the
children will talk about what they know or have heard
about it. Also, for the students
convenience there will also be links and websites that
students will be able to referrer while on the website to help
them with the quizzes.
Procedures:
A. In the beginning of the unit a group discussion will be
held where they will list animals they know along with any
background information
B. Then the students will list out all the animals and do more
research that includes there animal of choice (refer to links
given)
C. When looking at these websites, students will be learning
about animals on the savannah, as well as the savannah it
self; such as what is the climate like, terrain and so on
D. After the review, the children will then come to this
website and take a short quiz based on their readings. While
taking the quiz, students will be able to referrer back to the
websites they were given. THIS WILL NOT BE A TIMED QUIZ!!
E. Depending on the number of students in the classroom,
students will be able to work in groups of 2 maximum!
Evaluation:
- After completing the quiz, students should be able to
differentiate between animals
- Students will have gained knowledge all and expand on
their prior knowledge of the savannah
