Unit Theme: Anatomy
Grade Level: 5th grade
Lesson Theme: Body Parts (organs)
Objectives
1. Students will be able to
label where organs are from the view of the front of the body.
2. Students will be able to
state at least one function per organ.
Instructional Techniques
- Short lecture
- Individual work on website
and handout
Instructional Materials
- Website
- Handout saying how many
they got right and how many they got wrong as well as one function
of the organ in that question.
Theoretical Perspective
- It is important for my
students to learn about their organs for a general sense of where
things are in their body, and if they are injured or something
hurts, they are able
to identify where the pain is and possibly identify why they are
in pain.
Procedure
- Introduction: I will show
the students a diagram of the body showing the organs so they know
that is what we are learning about next.
- Step by Step
> 1 hour lesson
> 20 min
{ Will explain to the
students why it is important for them to know where their organs
are and what they do for them.
{ I'll then give them a
handout that they can mark down what they got wrong and what they
got right plus one fact per organ.
> 40 min
{ the students will spend
the rest of the time on the website answering the questions and
writing their fact about each organ.
- Closure: Students will
hand in their worksheet at the end of the lesson.
- Adaptations
> Include pictures and as well as writing in
the question as to which organ do they have to identify.
> If a student needs someone to read it to
them out loud they can have someone do that.
> Allows non English speaking students to learn
about the names organs as well as their locations and functions.
Evaluation
- Students will be able to
label where the organs are from the view of the front of the body.
> They have to answer questions as to
where the organs are.
- Students will be able to
state at least one function of the organ.
> They have to write out one fact per organ
after answering the question.
