Netscape Composer
1. Open new file in Netscape Composer.
- Select File, New, Blank Page (Composer)
2. Save & Name file on your disk.
- Select File, Save Page As
- Create a name & add .html
- Remember not to leave any spaces in the name.
- Future saves can be made by selecting file save or by clicking
the floppy disk icon.
3. Try the following:
- Change font color, size, & style
- font color, size, and style can be changed by utlizing either
the icons at the top of the page or by using the pull down menues.
This is similar to any word processing program.
- Color: highlight text,
click on color icon above, choose color.
- Size: highlight text, click
on the down arrow next to the #12, choose a different number.
Or select Normal icon and select a type of heading.
- Style: Highlight text, select B, I, &/or
U icon.
- Cut and paste text
- This is accompished the same way as with a word processor.
- Cut/Paste: Highlight desired text, Select Edit from
pull down menue, cut. Place cursor where you want to paste, Select
Edit, Paste. Or use the cut/paste icons.
- Make a table
- The table icon looks like this
- Table: Select the Table icon above . Choose the number
of rows and columbs desired. Each cell is activated by clicking
inside. You can now add text or a graphic.....
- Make a bulleted list
- Again, this is much like using a word processor.
- Bulleted List: Select desired text, click the bulleted
list icon
- Make a link (internal & external)
- Links from your page can be made to other pages you create
(internal links) or to pages created by others located anywhere
on the Internet (external links).
- Links: Select text you want the user to click to take
them to another page/site. Select the Chain Link icon. Here you
make a choice. If you want to make an internal link, select Choose
File and search for your file. If you want to make an external
link, just type in the URL.
- Place an image
- Images can be paced anywhere in a page, including inside
a created table.
- Images: You must have a saved image on your disk.
Click on the Graphic Image icon (has a circle,square & triangle)
and select choose file. Select File name. Remember all graphic
files need to end with a .gif or .jpg.
4. To view your work, save and then preview by clicking the
"Netscape Icon" (this looks like a yellow ships wheel,
top left)
