Since its founding in 1836, Westfield State College has been a leader in teacher preparation. We are happy to welcome you as a prospective teacher. The Division of Graduate and Continuing Education sponsors and supports a variety of licensure programs. The information in this booklet is designed for students who have a bachelor’s degree and now wish to be certified as a teacher or want to earn an additional licensure in Massachusetts.


Information presented here reflects the changes to Massachusetts licensure regulations fully effective in October 2003.


POST-BACCALAUREATE TEACHER LICENSURE PROGRAM


This program affords many students who have completed a bachelor's degree the opportunity to earn initial licensure in the following subject areas:

Elementary, 1-6
English, 5-8, 8-12

Physical Education, PreK-8, 5-12
Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities, All Levels
Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities, PreK-8, 5-12
