McCabe won a rematch of the 2019 election, which he lost by less than one percent of the vote to Donald Humason Jr. ’89, the former Mass. State Senator and Representative, as reported by The Republican. McCabe has taught criminal justice courses at Westfield State for several years and has indicated a desire to continue as mayor if his schedule allows.

A Holyoke native, Garcia defeated At-Large City Councilor Michael Sullivan to become the city’s first Latino mayor, as reported by The Daily Hampshire Gazette.

McCabe and Garcia join Springfield’s Domenic Sarno ’94 and West Springfield’s Will Reichelt ’09 as alumni currently serving as mayors of western Massachusetts cities.
