Students interested in registering into classes can do so online through myWestfield.
Students unable to login or register online can email a member of the CGCE Registration Team with their registration form, including the course reference number (CRN) for the section they wish to register for. This number is printed next to the course number in the listings. Students with the last name beginning with A-M should contact Celeste Washington, firstname.lastname@example.org. Students with the last name beginning with N-Z should contact Cornel Hurston, email@example.com.
If you are a full-time day student looking to register for a summer session, a pin is not required for registration through myWestfield. Students looking to use financial aid to cover the cost of the courses should contact financial aid at firstname.lastname@example.org to see if you are eligible.
MyWestfield Access: Log in to the portal with your first initial, last name and last 4 digits of your CWID. Your initial password will be your CWID or current email password.
After logging in, select the Email icon displayed in the right-hand corner of the main page.
Click on the Registration link to REGISTER, select Registration Checklist item #3 (Add/Drop Classes)

Web Registration Payment
You can pay your bill online following registration with a credit/debit card or electronic check. Please note, credit/debit cards have a 2.5% service charge. Payment for courses is due two (2) weeks prior to the start of the term you are enrolled. Failure to pay by this date will result in a $100 late payment fee and may risk being dropped from the course.
CGCE Registration FAQ
Prior to the start of registration, students are encouraged to check their account and determine any holds that may prevent them from registering. Students can check their registration status through myWestfield under the “Registration” tab and the first option on the “Registration Checklist”.
Possible holds that prevent registration:
- Academic advising hold: must meet with major advisor
- Academic standing hold: academic probation or dismissal
- Final transcript hold: missing final transcript from prior institution; this hold may be waived once for students first semester at Westfield
- Financial hold: past due balance on account
- Haven hold: need to complete the mandatory Sexual Assault Prevention course
- Health insurance hold: need to either waive or enroll in the University health insurance plan
Possible Error Messages
“You are not permitted to register at this time” : web registration is open to students between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
“College Restriction”: CGCE courses have a section number beginning with five (ex. 501). This message will appear if you try to register for a Day course. Day courses have sections beginning with a zero (ex. 001). CGCE students are able to register for up to 3 day courses during cross-registration, a three-day time frame in early August for the fall and early December for the spring, or during add/drop the first week of the semester. Check the “Registration” tab on myWestfield and your University email for cross-registration dates.
“Closed – Class Full”: The course is full.
“Major Restriction”: Some classes are restricted to students in a specific major. If you are a Liberal Studies major or minoring in a specific major, please contact CGCE for assistance.
“Missing prerequisite, cannot add”: You have not taken the prerequisite course or courses. To see what prerequisite course you are missing, visit the University Catalog, or the full list of CGCE courses at www.gobacknow.com and scroll over the “PR” next to the course you are trying to register for.
