500 Word Literature Analysis (10% course grade)

A 500-word literature analysis asks that you read the designated primary text as an example of postmodernism, applying a particular theory to a specific element or attribute. Specificity is key in this assignment, and you will succeed by selecting a precise quote from the theory and applying that to material that is directly quoted from the literature. Precision and a true spirit of discovery are valued over general claims and safe claims made in general about broad aspects of the text. In this brief analysis, you are invited to personalize it with first-person voice, and/or other related considerations that you feel are relevant to your analysis. Unlike the prÈcis assignment, the more you make these analyses your own, the better you are likely to do.

You are required to turn in two Literature Analysis assignments during the semester. This one is assigned, but you must select for yourself, from our other assigned readings, what your second text will be.
