Studying in the Nettie Stevens Science and Innovation Center

Westfield State University’s naming of the Dr. Nettie Maria Stevens Science & Innovation Center aims to properly recognize an esteemed alumna’s seminal discoveries that significantly impacted science and society.  That alumna is a young geneticist by the name of Dr. Nettie Maria Stevens who published in 1905 studies in spermatogenesis with especial reference to the accessory chromosome.
