Commissioner of Higher Education Carlos Santiago to visit Westfield State University


WHO: Massachusetts Commissioner of Higher Education Carlos Santiago, Westfield State University leaders including President Ramon S. Torrecilha and his cabinet, Westfield State University students, faculty, and staff.

WHAT: Commissioner Santiago will hold his first full official visit to Westfield State University. He is expected to discuss a variety of statewide priorities including addressing achievement gaps, access, affordability, and graduation rates.

WHERE: The campus of Westfield State University.

WHEN: Thursday, February 11 Commissioner Santiago will join students at lunch beginning at noon in the Tekoa Room in the Dining Commons. Commissioner Santiago is expected to attend the Board of Trustees meeting at 3 p.m.

WHY:  The commissioner is visiting all 29 campuses in the state’s public higher education system, which is comprised of 15 community colleges, nine state universities, and five campuses of the University of Massachusetts.
