Westfield State hires public relations professional Tricia Oliver as director of campus communication
WESTFIELD, Mass., May 27, 2016- Westfield State University has selected Tricia Oliver as the director of Campus Communication.
“Ms. Oliver’s unique expertise in public relations spans across higher education, the health care field, and the private sector,” said Westfield State University President Dr. Ramon S. Torrecilha. “Her diverse skill set will be beneficial in promoting the university’s mission and increasing its visibility both on and off campus.”
Oliver is a seasoned communications professional with 20 years of public relations experience gained in highly visible organizations in Massachusetts. She has focused her career most recently in higher education, serving as the director of College Relations for Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass.
At Anna Maria, Oliver managed the communication associated with the selection of a new president, oversaw the launch of a new website, solidified the college’s social media presence, and enhanced communication with internal and external stakeholders. In addition to developing and driving Anna Maria’s public relations and marketing communication plans and overseeing institutional image and branding initiatives, Oliver served as the liaison between the college and the Worcester area business community.
Prior to Anna Maria, Oliver served for seven years as the director of Media and Communications for the Massachusetts Bar Association. She also held a number of internal and external communication roles at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and Morton Hospital and Medical Center in Taunton. She received her B.A. in communications from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania.
As director of Campus Communication, Oliver will be responsible for the development and strategy of communication and outreach on behalf of the president and the university including media relations, public relations, and internal and external communication. She will also serve as the liaison to the leadership team for crisis management and will act as the primary campus media spokesperson.

Oliver’s official start date is June 30.
