Westfield State University students present proposed Pitoniak trails design

WESTFIELD - Westfield State University students presented a site proposal for a trail system in the Pitoniak Conservation Area at the Conservation Commission’s Dec. 12 meeting. The proposed design consists of a parking lot with three spaces, an accessible path, an observation deck, a picnic area, and two backcountry loop trails.

Students recommended a parking lot made of rainwater-permeable crushed stone. It will have three spaces, one of which is handicap-accessible; a kiosk; a picnic table; and a bike rack.
