Traditional Residence Halls
Enjoy the complete college experience in one of our traditional residential halls. You’ll share your fully furnished double, triple, or quad dorm room with fellow students and use communal amenities like kitchens and dining areas, study lounges and gathering spaces, and laundry facilities.
Our largest campus residence, Countney Hall features traditional double, triple, or quad dorm rooms.
Lammers Hall houses students of all class years in single, double, triple, and quad dorm rooms
Apartment, Suite-Style, and Graduate Living
Our apartment style on-campus living offers more privacy, your own kitchen and living/lounging space, in-suite bathrooms, and more. We also offer apartment living for graduate students looking to live on campus while focusing on their studies.
These three residence halls form a “horseshoe” with a cozy greenspace at the center. Graduate housing is also available in Welch Hall.
Our newest residence hall features apartment living for 4 to 6 in single and double rooms, which include a kitchenette, living area, and private bathroom(s).
New Hall houses sophomore, junior, and senior students in single and double rooms found within 4- and 6-person apartments.

When do I move in for the fall semester?
Fall Move-In typically happens the weekend before the Labor Day holiday. Specific dates will be posted on the website by August 1.
Can I move in early?
Students with a University affiliation (RAs, athletes, student leaders, etc.) may move in early at the request of their sponsoring department for no extra charge. Students who need to return early due to travel plans or other non-University-related reasons may move in up to three (3) days early for a cost of $40/day.
When do I move in for the spring semester?
Spring Move-In typically happens the weekend before the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. Specific dates will be posted on the website by January 1.

When do the halls close for the spring semester?
Specific dates will be posted on the website by January 1.
The residence halls close for Thanksgiving, Winter, and Summer Break. Students who anticipate needing to live on campus during break periods should sign up for 12-Month/Year-Round Housing. Students who live in this community will be placed in the Apartments Complex or New Hall so they have access to a full kitchen year-round.
Students who do not live in 12-Month/Year-Round Housing may apply for housing during the break periods, but they are not guaranteed housing and they may be required to move to another space for breaks.
How do I pick my room for next year?
The room selection process takes place every spring in late March/early April. The Housing Selection Guide, which contains specific dates and details about housing selection, will be made available on the website and in hard copy in late February.
Can I get a single?
There are a select number of design singles (rooms intended and furnished for one person) and “super singles” (rooms intended and furnished for two people where only one person lives) available for students. Students who need reasonable accommodation in housing must begin this process by registering and requesting accommodation through Disability Services or their LDP Advisor at ds@westfield.ma.edu or 413-572-8377. Check the housing selection guide for important deadlines.
What if I don’t like the room I select?
Room waiting lists for students who selected housing for the 2024-2025 Academic Year will open after the housing selection process has concluded. Students are able to sign up for multiple waiting lists. These lists will be reviewed over the summer as space becomes available. We are unable to guarantee that we will be able to accommodate all students on the lists.
How do I become an RA?
RAs are selected twice a year, typically in October/November for a few openings in the spring semester and a larger process in February/March for the upcoming fall semester. More information can be found on our website.
What do I get in exchange for being an RA?
The compensation for the Resident Assistant position is full reimbursement of a single room, reimbursement for a Nestor Unlimited meal plan, and a parking decal.
Students interested in a room change must complete a Room Change Application in their MyHousing portal. The Room Change Application will go live the third week of each semester. Graduate student housing is available in Welch Hall in the Apartments Complex. Please contact Residential Life directly (housing@westfield.ma.edu or 413-572-5402) if you are a graduate student seeking housing.
We do not currently offer family housing.
