                                                                                                           Theoretical Perspective

This information is important for the students to learn so that they know what they should eat and not eat, what a healthy meal is and what’s not.  In today’s society obesity in children is such a big problem that students need to learn about being healthy at a young age.

Procedure

                                                                                                                                           Introductory Activity

The students will be introduced to the food pyramid, with a  poster that was made, to show each food group.

                                                                                                                Step-by-Step Procedure

  1. The students are going to be given some information on the food pyramid, like what each food group is and what is included in it.

2.  They will then be given information on what each serving should be for each food group.

3. The students will then have to go on the website to play the game “The Nutrition Adventure.” The students will have to go through each food group and answer question on each food group, if they are having a hard time they are going to have to click on the links that will bring them to a page that can help them with the answer.

 Closure

Once the students feel that they are comfortable with the food pyramid, they will be given a couple worksheets to assess them on what they learned.

  Evaluation

The students will then have to create their own food pyramids, including all of the five food groups and showing what they know belongs in each of the groups. They will do this by making the food pyramids on a poster board, and finding examples in magazines and online to put in each of the food groups. This will be the way in which to assess the students on what they learned.
