Athletic Training, EMT programs participate in emergency simulation

Athletic Training Program and Emergency Medical Technician students work together to address simultaneous life-threatening injury scenarios during this semester's mock Interprofessional Health Care Simulations.

Health Care Simulations
Students in the Westfield State athletic training program and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) classes recently held their Interprofessional Health Care Simulations on campus. Students from the University’s EMT Club served as actors and Southwick’s Fire Department ambulance was used to enhance the realism of the scenarios.

Assistant Professors of Athletic Training Paul Higgins, DPT, and Paul Cacolice, PhD, and EMT Instructor Chris Perkins and served as evaluators for the six simulations.

Athletic Training students to interview EATA Hall of Famer
Westfield State student members of the athletic training program will participate in a pilot program to interview founding members of the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association (EATA) for the organization’s upcoming 75th anniversary. Third- and fourth-year athletic training students will interview former Westfield State Head Athletic Trainer Rich Pierce, a member of the EATA Hall of Fame.
