Shining the Spotlight on Health Services

Good morning Champions!

Today I really want to focus on one of the very important aspects of our Campus, Health Services. Health Services is the go to place on Campus for students with any health related needs. If your student is feeling sick, send them to health services, if they need prescriptions, send them to Health Services!

Health Services offers many different beneficial services to students here on Campus. I know that it has been a big convenience for me as a student. During my first year here at Westfield, right when we all moved back in for the Spring semester, I got sick. I had a super bad sore throat, and I have always been very prone to getting Strep Throat. But, as a first year I was stuck on campus without my car, and I was not able to go to my primary doctor near my house. Thankfully, I was able to get right in with Health Services to get checked out. Not only were they able to give me a Strep test, but they were also able to give me an exam to make sure everything else was ok. Shocker, the Strep test did come back positive, which meant I needed antibiotics. Thankfully, they are able to write us students prescriptions, and by 8:00PM that night, I was able to go and fill my prescription.

Health Service is very convenient for students here on campus. I encourage all of your students to use them if they have any need to. Sometimes, especially for residential students, it is difficult for them to see their doctor during the school year if they get sick. Now, they do not need to worry about getting home during the middle of the week if they need to get checked out. They are just able to walk to Health Services and get the same check-up that they would be given at their primary doctors office.

I am also very thankful that the staff in Health Services is full of nice people. It takes a lot of the stress off my shoulders when I get sick while on campus, because I know I am in good hands. They are all fantastic people, and I have never had an issue with any of the people that work in Health Services.

Below are all of the different services that are available to students in Health Services:

  • Urgent Care
  • Health Education
  • Prescriptions( sent to pharmacy of choice)
  • On-site Strep, Pregnancy, Mono, Flu, COVID-19 and Urinalysis
  • Reproductive Health-Contraception, PAP smear

  • Xray’s and lab work(performed off site)
