WSKB is a radio station that is licensed to serve Westfield State University and the Greater Westfield, Massachusetts area. The station is owned by the Trustees of Westfield State University. The stations format is based off of the College radio modern rock system. WSKB has been around for quite a while as well, the station first broadcasted in October of 1974.
The station is lead by community based as well as student run programs every day. With the understanding that both community programs and student programs work as one to create a great product. The community side, broadcasts every day from 6 a.m to 12 p.m. Then from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m is where the student programs come into play.
WSKB’s radio club is run by an executive board made up of students with faculty advisers. The board helps create a sound environment for club and community members alike. The board also plays the role of promoter as well, they put on live shows with local and regional acts that the audience will enjoy.
The station also offers the best in student run sports radio. The Sports Drive from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., WSKB offers 7 shows everyday of the week at those times. The Sports Drive has been a part of WSKB dating back to February of 2015, and has been a welcome source of sports to all listeners.
