English Internships

Discover the opportunities for career exploration that an internship could bring you.

Interested in an English Internship?

Experience the working world in a vast array of environments depending on your interests. English Department interns can apply their college education so far in real working environments in public relations, grant writing, library sciences, web content writing, social media, journalism, literary editing, legal fields, marketing, government, event management, and more.

Workplace Experience

An English Internship allows students to familiarize themselves with the working world. In their junior and senior years, English majors and minors involved in the internship program are able to see their degree in action and are able to apply what they have learned and what they are learning in a workplace environment.

Internships allow students to either validate their career paths or give them insight and the opportunity to alter their path before graduation. All the while, of course, making connections to the working world for post-graduation. Internships also lead to immediate jobs upon graduation and freelance opportunities.

Learn Real World Skills

A functioning work environment allows students to pick up and learn skills that they may not experience in a classroom environment. Interns will need to manage their own time, conduct their own research, work with employers rather than professors, and practice technical work with real data, public relations, and public speaking.
