Mission:
The Department of Accounting and Finance personalizes the college experience. With small class sizes, professors are able to develop a more meaningful relationship with their students and can employ innovative techniques to promote student engagement and maximize the in-class student experience. The department focuses on hands-on lessons relating to both local and global issues from both an academic and real-world perspective to provide students with the skill sets necessary to succeed in the professional setting.
The Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and a Master of Science in Accounting (MSA). The two programs combined meet the educational requirements to become a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the commonwealth of Massachusetts.
At the undergraduate level, courses focus on accounting theory as well as practical accounting skills to prepare students for jobs in a variety of fields within the accounting profession. The graduate program builds on the knowledge and tools from the students’ undergraduate education, helping to prepare students for management positions in accounting.
In addition to BSc in Accounting and MSA, the BSc in Finance program is designed for students looking to enter the exciting fields of Corporate Finance, Personal Financial Planning, Commercial Banking, and Fund Management. The program will provide students with a strong knowledge of finance principles and business applications and prepare them for a variety of careers in the financial services field.
We believe that we have a great program and offer students something different from larger institutions. If you would like more information on any of our programs or would like to schedule an appointment to speak with an advisor in the Department of Accounting and Finance, you may contact us at (413) 572-5590.
