About the SAIL Team

Matt Dellea, Director

Matt is the Director of the Office of Student Activities, Involvement, and Leadership. In his role, Matt oversees all major components of SAIL and works on campus-wide event committees. He is a 2011 graduate of Westfield State University, earning his Bachelor of Science in General Science. After graduation, Matt never left the nest and got a job working in Residential Life. After being in the field for two years, Matt moved departments and began working in the Ely Campus as a Night and Weekend Manager.

In 2016, he graduated from Springfield College, earning his Master’s Degree in Student Personnel Administration. This is also when he moved into the Student Activities Office and was charged with re-invigorating an area that was needed by the students. Since 2016, Matt has worked hard to re-imagine campus life at Westfield State and grown the one-person office to a full functioning department at the University.

Matt loves working with all students and making sure all students feel a sense of belonging at Westfield State. If you haven't connected with him, stop by his office in Ely or send him an email at mdellea@westfield.ma.edu

Laura Cafaro, Coordinator of Student Involvement

Laura is the Coordinator of Student Involvement, and holds a few main responsibility areas. Within this position, she advises our incredible Student Government Association (SGA), assists our student clubs/ organizations, and manages the Champions piece of New Student Orientation!

Laura recently started at WSU, but before joining you all at the Nest, she was a graduate student at Springfield College. At Springfield College, she worked as a graduate associate for the Office of Student Activities where she co-advised their SGA and Campus Activities Board. It would be a safe bet to say that she truly enjoys advising students as they collaborate to improve the campus experience.

As an undergraduate student, she found herself as a member of their class council, student senate, and the commuter council. Developing a strong sense of belonging on her college campus due to the guidance of her advisors, both staff and peer, led her to realize that she wanted to do the same for future college students.

If you find yourself wanting to join a club, learn more about SGA, or just ask a question about WSU, please stop by her office! You can find her in the SGA room in Ely (across from Dunkin') or send an email to lcafaro@westfield.ma.edu.
