B.A., Westfield State College; M.M., Bowling Green State University

A Massachusetts native, Scott Blanchard holds degrees in Theory and Composition from Westfield State University and Bowling Green State University, and has served on the faculty at Westfield State University since the fall of 2006, and more recently, Greenfield Community College. He enjoys teaching theory, aural skills, and composition, along with composing intimate solo and chamber works. In his time at Westfield, Scott has mentored several students who have gone on to pursue advanced degrees in composition.

As an active freelance musician, a sampling of Scott’s experience includes commissions, applied instrumental/songwriting lessons, performing, music transcription, published writing, and proofreading for National Guitar Workshop Publications and Alfred Publishing.

Other areas of interest include synthesis and sound design. Scott enjoys hiking and traveling.
