Carlo Goldoni
Adapted and Translated by
Jeffery Hatcher and Paolo Emilio Landi
Directed by
Malia'Kekia Nicolini
Carlo Goldoni's The Servant of Two Masters is a classic Italian comedy centered on the greedy (or one might say hungry) servant Truffaldino who attempts to serve two masters simultaneously to earn double the wages, leading to chaotic mix-ups, mistaken identities, and romantic entanglements as he tries to keep his double service a secret. The play combines elements of the traditional Commedia dell'arte with Goldoni's skill at writing for the theatre, featuring a plot full of invention, disguises, and slapstick humor that builds to a comical resolution.
