Healthy Menu Choices for Special Dietary Needs

Westfield State Dining offers a variety of healthy menu choices for all students, including those with special dietary needs. We focus on stealth health, so you will notice the availability of more seasonal fruit and vegetables, reduced sodium in all recipes, smaller portion sizes and more whole grain options at every meal.

What is stealth health?

We incorporate a “small plate big flavor” concept to promote healthy portion sizes without compromising flavor. Our recipes are created with:

  • Less sodium
  • Healthier oils
  • More whole grains
  • Sustainable seafood and lean meats
  • Local produce
  • More plant-based proteins
What are the top 9 allergens?

The top 9 allergens are:

  1. Crustacean shellfish
  2. Eggs
  3. Fish
  4. Milk
  5. Peanuts
  6. Sesame
  7. Soybeans
  8. Tree nuts
  9. Wheat

Food Allergies and Special Dietary Needs

Our Worry Free Zone in the Dining Commons offers options that DO NOT contain the top 9 allergens. Options for gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian are also available.

The Dining Commons and Bistro are peanut and tree nut free. Please contact our team to discuss food allergies and special dietary needs. Consultations are free for all students on a meal plan.

Additionally, all ingredients and allergens are listed on our online menu.*

*Our online Nutrislice menu launched in Fall 2023. We appreciate your patience as we continue to update the new system with dietary information.
