Jason Schwartz is a 2004 graduate of Westfield State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music composition and jazz studies. In 2011, Jason earned a Master of Music degree in composition from the Hartt School and was presented with the Edward Diemente Award for excellence in music composition. At the Hartt School, Jason studied with Dr. Robert Carl and Dr. David MacBride.

Jason is also an in-demand freelance bassist in the New England area and has had the opportunity to perform with a variety of great musicians that include Freddie Bryant, Warren Byrd, Saskia Laroo, Rich Goldstein, Charles Neville, Nicole Zuraitis, Sinan Bakir, Jim Argiro, Samirah Evans, Kris Allen, Benny Sharoni, John Stowell, Galen Abdur-Razzaq, Nicki Mathis, Atla DeChamplain, Matt DeChaplain, Ben Bilello, Joe Belmont, Warren Chiasson, Jason Robinson, Ethel Lee, Bob Weiner, Paul Arslanian, Claire Arenius and many more. Jason actively works with the Jim Argiro Quintet (George Shearing and Beyond), Jon Fisher Trio, and The Darryl Kniffen Sextet. Additionally, in 2005, Jason released his first CD of entirely original jazz compositions titled Green Horizon. Jason also collaborated with Jonathan Lamarr Edwards’ group featuring the internationally acclaimed avant-garde clarinetist Perry Robinson. He enjoys playing original music from many different genres, and has performed and recorded with artists such as Sandy Bailey, Laila Salins, and Jim Matus.
