Prospective Student Visits to Banacos Academic Center
Welcome to Westfield State University and the Banacos Academic Center.
We encourage prospective students to attend one of our informal information sessions. Information sessions will occur on select Tuesdays and Fridays in the Fall and Spring semesters. Additional sessions will occur Tuesday through Friday during Admissions Junior Week (typically during Massachusetts public school's April vacation week). during the summer, information sessions are set up as the need arises.
At our session, you will learn about the comprehensive supports available through Disability Services and the Learning Disabilities Program. You will also learn about the other academic supports you can receive at the Center and at Westfield State University. Please also read this Students with Disabilities Preparing for Postsecondary Education: Know your Rights and Responsibilities.
Please fill out the Banacos Academic Center Information Session Sign Up form. If you are unable to attend one of the sessions listed, or if sessions are not available at that time, please consider setting a time to speak on the phone to discuss your questions by writing to ldp@westfield.ma.edu for the Learning Disabilities Program or ds@westfield.ma.edu for Disability Services or request a time to have an information session within the online form. For general questions, write to banacos@westfield.ma.edu, You may leave suggestions for times or other notes in the "Notes" section on the sign up form.
Please note that during September, October, late January and early February we are especially focused on advising current students. Before finals, during the last few weeks of each semester, we focus on helping students manage exams and final projects. During these times, we are unlikely to be available outside of the information session times scheduled.
Banacos Academic Center staff is available at Admission events, too. Many families find that meeting us at these events provides sufficient answers to their questions. Please take advantage of the campus tours available through the Office of Admissions. The tour guides are great sources of information about the Banacos Academic Center, too. Several of them have personal experience with our services.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
